The diamond family archive

Welcome to the The Diamond Family Archive.

A blend of English lo-fi & psych-rock. The Diamond Family Archive are a unique multi-instrumentalist roving ensemble based around the guitar playing and songwriting of Laurence Collyer.

The Diamond Family Archive craft a mesmeric live experience by using such instruments as acoustic guitars & FX pedals, drums, tape delay, loops & bellows, bows, harmonicas, cosmic harps, toys, broken cymbals & vocals. This creates an evolving sound that holds a unique journey each time when heard.

In the last year they have played shows in Austria, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain, Switzerland and the UK.

Holed up in a converted shed in rural Devon finds The Diamond Family Archive creating and coaxing songs from all manner of instruments and vintage equipment. Personal and pastoral themes are mixed with sleepy-eyed awe to create sparse and fluttering arrangements. The sounds of the rain, the old mill leat outside the door and the ever present ominous rookery in the nearby slate quarry all make it onto the recordings too.

The Diamond Family Archive have been quietly releasing records, tapes and CDs through a handful of labels (Dinosaur Club {USA}, Tired Trails {USA}, Woodland Recordings {UK/GER}, A Beard of Snails {Denmark}, MAP Recordings {UK}, Stone Tape {UK} Lynch(ed) {UK} and many others.
